About
A one-woman rescue, for now
Willie’s Whisker Rescue rescues, fosters and rehomes cats from Schenectady, NY. It became official in 2026, and right now it’s mostly one very determined person.
Meet Paige
Paige spent years rescuing cats around Schenectady before Willie’s had a name: 60+ of them rescued, fostered and rehomed on her own. Today she runs Willie’s on top of a full-time job. She does all of the rescuing and all of the driving, and fosters about 80% of the cats in her own home.
Her goal is to build Willie’s up until it can bring on more foster homes and, eventually, hire help, so the rescue can say yes to more cats.
Willie’s story
Before Willie’s Whisker Rescue became a reality, its founder spent years rescuing cats independently, often relying on other rescues for help with medical expenses and finding loving homes, or simply taking on the financial burden herself.
Then came Willie, an adorable, curious, one-eyed rescue kitten who would change everything. Willie was more than just a rescue; he was the inspiration behind a dream of creating a nonprofit dedicated to helping the most vulnerable felines.
Sadly, Willie’s life was cut short by lymphoma associated with feline leukemia (FeLV). Heartbroken but determined to turn that loss into something meaningful, Willie’s Whisker Rescue was born.
Named in honor of the little one-eyed kitten who stole its founder’s heart, the rescue continues his legacy by giving cats in need the love, care, and second chances they deserve.
Saving cats, one whisker at a time.
